I took this picture, but it was of a modern truck in the dark, and that was not so interesting. I used a stock photo of an old truck and added the woman in the doorway. What do you think is going on here?
I often use stock photos from Substack or other places because I like to paint old cars. This is one of the best I have done, I think.
There is another image that appears to be of the same truck maybe 20 years later; the shed has collapsed and the truck appears to be irretrievable. So I didn’t paint that version.
I make small art for a company called Artomat (artomat.org), which places them in old refurbished cigarette machines to sell. One of my popoular series is called Clunkers. If you are looking to make a lot of very small art, to sell for $2.50 each, you might check them out.
At 2 inches by 3 inches, I can make a lot of them on 9x12 paper, which is glued to matboard. Then I glue a cardstock easel to the back to they will stand up.
This next one is one of my early watercolors, 11x14, I think. This photo of it is the only one I have, and I have also lost the original photograph reference. I don’t remember if I gave it to someone, or if it disappeared sometime between the 90s and now.
Just one more, a fun one where I got a little carried away with pumpkins. I like pumpkins and as you can see, cats.
I had so much fun painting the pumpkins that I didn’t think about how the truck managed to get them there in the mountains. Ah, well, art is not about reality. I remember my grandfather letting us pick out a pumpkin for a jack-o'-lantern from the many he raised in his garden. My uncle had a truck of this vintage, although it had the usual truck bed.
Good one
You asked a question, “What do you think is going on here?” I will try to answer. An alleyway in Greer SC, you added the woman in the doorway, and changed the boring new truck to an old one. What your readers failed to notice, descending from the rooftop, is a rare, very thin, highly venomous Venusian scorpion. It seems to be focused on the woman in the doorway. The crate in the truck's bed holds the antivenom. If you go back to the original photo, and she is not there, the next photo, if it is available, probably would show the woman, unaware of her impending doom. I always suspected that Venusians were a part of Greer. Sketchy town, between Greenville and Spartanburg. Strange people. I don’t shop there much.
Hmm, or maybe I should get back on my meds...
